Joan Swim
Joan Swim has been ringing for 23 years. She has
taught handbell workshops at local and area events.
She directs the Ring Tones Youth Handbell Choir in
Cheyenne. She works as a Neonatal Intensive Care
Nurse at Poudre Valley Hospital. When not ringing,
she enjoys cooking, fishing, and painting (walls).
Sallie Varner
Sallie started ringing handbells in junior high school and
was an avid ringer for nearly a decade. Some 20+ years
later, an ad for Bells of the Rockies caught her eye and she
has happily returned to handbells.
When not working on re-honing her long-lost ringing skills,
Sallie spends her time dancing -- she is Artistic Director for
Storm Mountain Folk Dancers, and has choreographed
several shows for theater organizations in Fort Collins.
She is an avid hiker, has climbed over 40 of Colorado's
14ers, and has made it to the top of all but 4 of Colorado's
named passes over 12,000 feet.
Sallie lives in Fort Collins with her husband and works for
Colorado State University.
Chris Vickers
Chris is a mathematics instructor at Roosevelt High School in
Johnstown.
A Wisconsin native, she moved to Colorado in 1987 and was
counselled into a church handbell choir by her pastor in the
early 90's. A few years later she started ringing in a local
community group. Hooked on handbell ringing and desiring
to improve her skills, Chris accepted an invitation to audition
for Bells of the Rockies. Despite 11 years of piano study, 13
years of saxophone lessons and a music minor degree,
there's nothing really quite like ringing in a handbell
ensemble!
Chris lives in Greeley with her husband, Jeff and their cat,
Sushi.
Christina Sutter
From the time she was little, Christina was
delighted every time she heard the handbell choir
perform at her church. She vowed they would
play at her wedding when she grew up, and wished
she could ring, too.
When a bulletin announcement came out looking
for new ringers, Christina jumped at the chance.
Christina continues to play in her church choir,
and, in the summer of 2006, they played at her
wedding.
Shortly after that, she became a part of Bells of the
Rockies and has found it both challenging and
exciting. Other joys in her life include
teaching, hanging out with her husband Joey,
crocheting, and reading.

Becky Stever
Becky started ringing handbells at age 8. She has
participated in church and community handbell choirs
ever since, including 2 1/2 years directing a church bell
choir in Arizona. Becky is currently a student in the
College of Veterinary Medicine at Colorado State
University. Becky grew up in Minnesota and now lives in
Windsor with her husband Paul and two cats. She
joined Bells of the Rockies for the Spring 2009 Season.
